What a day at the annual North Andover sheep shearing festival! Over 10,000 people were there, enjoying the sheep shearing and herding demonstrations with the Border collies. The event was held at the Common in Old North Andover Center as it has for the last 40 years.
There was plenty of food and crafters, as well as fun events such as Cowpie Bingo, pony rides, face painting, sand art and a petting zoo.
During Cowpie Bingo spectators patiently waited for 4 year old Mombe, the 800 pound cow, to land her cowpie on the winners square. After waiting an hour and seven minutes it finally happened! The $10,000 grand prize was split between two winners since the cowpie landed on two squares. Robin Dubois and David Lemerise each won $500!
North Andover CAM set up a green screen for kids and adults to use. We had so much fun with it! As you ran in place in front of the green screen, you could see yourself on the big screen tv running among the marathoners!
We enjoyed meeting Debbi Raffalli and Ellen Mosier at the North Andover High School SOS (Save Our Seniors) Committee booth. They were selling “I love North Andover” Tees with proceeds going to the “ALL KNIGHT” Graduation Party for our NA High School Seniors on Friday June 13th 2014. The party is a wonderful tradition to help keep our seniors safe with a substance free, fun filled party with friends and classmates. What an amazing idea and event! Of course we just had to buy some Tees, after all we “heart” North Andover!!
It was our first year attending the Sheep Shearing Festival in North Andover and we will definitely be back next year!
